The City of Arts and Sciences
The City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia is a renowned touristic destination, which offers a unique experience for its visitors. The building compound can be found on, what used to be, the Turia river bed. The closest bridge to the site is Puente de Monteolivete; and the compound includes 5 beautifully architected buildings where different scientific and cultural events and exhibitions take place.
The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia was designed by Santiago Calatrava. It is the opera theatre in Valencia as well as the headquarters of the Valencian Community Orchestra. Multiple musical functions are available in this opera, as well as jam sessions of Jazz and different orchestras.
The Hemisferic, launched in 1998 and designed by Santiago Calatrava, hosts a spherical proyection room, where you can experience IMAX cinema, Digital 3D cinema and Digital projections. With themes such as astronomy and biology, the Hemisferic offers a space to enjoy audiovisual spectacles in an mesmerazing entourage.
The Musseum of Sciences Principe Felipe, is a Calatrava design dedicated to science, the environement and technology. It includes a recreational and restaurant area, as well as multiple interactive exhibitions and didactic activities. A space for all ages, where you can enjoy yourself whilst learning facts and interesting information.
The Umbracle is a beautiful outdoor garden where you can find a terrace and, during the night, the famous nightclub M.y.a.
The Oceanografic is a space that holds one of the biggest aquariums in Europe. The main marine ecosystems are represented in each building of the compound (Wetlands, Mediterranean, Temperate and Tropical seas..). The restaurant, designed by Felix Candela, offers a unique experience in spectacular spot to enjoy fresh food surrounded by the aquatic fauna. The Oceanografic offers profesional activities (conservation and care of species) as well as activities for all, such as daily shows organized by Pasaporte Animalia and sleeping among sharks. A place where you will enjoy yourself learning about the aquatic world and it’s preservation.

On a special note, at only 500 meters from the City of Arts and Sciences, you can find the Alquería del Pou, a traditional valencian restaurant.
